MyTruth - on fertilityMY TRUTH

I have been debating putting this out for some time now…but decided to go for it, because I know there are so many women out there fighting the same fight, and wondering: “why me?”.

Infertility. Not what we, as women, want to hear. Yet, somehow it’s become a common word these days.

Did you know that 1 out of 7 couples have trouble conceiving? And that number is projected to climb to 1 in 3 in the next 10 years?

Is anyone asking the most crucial question? WHY????

My husband and I have been trying to conceive on and off for over 3 years now. 10 months in (before my holistic health journey really began) I was making doctors appts to see “what was wrong”. After labs and diagnostics, My OB said she didn’t see why we should be having difficulty, so she referred us to a fertility specialist. Our appt was very short, and the doctor was direct (by this time we were at about a year of trying) and he told us “everything looks pretty good and normal. But if it has been a year, the likelihood of you conceiving naturally is very low, and I would recommend IVF.” Wow. Right to IVF?

Now, let me tell you something…at this time in my life, I was borderline DESPERATE to have a baby! Hence getting labs and testing done at only 10 months. When you are in DESPERATE mode, and the doctor tells you your chances are low to zero, and IVF is the best route…as a woman, you don’t care what it takes or how much money it will cost, you will do anything and everything you can to have a baby.

My next thought, “IVF it is”. My husbands….”no, that doesn’t feel right. We need more time.”

At the time, this actually caused a huge, emotional fight between my husband and I (and we rarely, if ever, fight). Yet, today, I am so thankful for him telling me no (which he rarely does 😘 ).

So, here is the thing. I truly believe having trouble conceiving is our body’s way of telling us something isn’t quite right. BUT, with patience, it can be mended and healed.

Over the last 2 years, I have put a lot of time and energy into research, learning, and rebuilding my body. The IVF doctor didn’t ask me much about my diet and lifestyle, but what I know now, is those are CRUCIAL for conceiving.

Through nutrition, lifestyle changes, meditation, supplementation, essential oils, yoga and alternative therapies, I have been rebuilding my body in terms of structure, form and function.

“When we can give the body what it needs and remove what it doesn’t, it will heal itself no matter what the health concern.” – The Whole Journey by Christa Orecchio

Did you know it can take up to 2 years to counter nutritional deficiencies? And without important nutrients, our body is lacking what it needs to create life. So….Patience is required. 😍

I have officially “hit” my 2 year mark, and have faith that with a little more time, love, and support, I can be my own testament that infertility doesn’t have to be a permanent diagnosis. There is hope.

I’d like to invite you to follow and connect with me on my journey!

If you are someone struggling, you don’t have to do it alone! We can be one another’s support system!
